According to Holliday's theory, one of the characteristics of a text is coherence, and the textual function is determined by considering the beginning-end structure and marking of each paragraph, the author's method and action in inducing his desired message. Vocabulary and connection of a text, a comprehensive analysis of how the various paragraphs are coherent and interconnected is obtained. This article examines one of the most important sermons of Nahj al-Balaghah with a meta-textual analysis and examines the actions of Imam Ali (as) in inducing dissatisfaction with the oppression and disobedience of the people of that time and the necessity and importance of jihad in an analytical and descriptive way based on theory. Holliday has explored in this regard the cohesive factors that have made Nahj al-Balaghah the most enduring Islamic text after the Qur'an. One of the findings of this study is that the beginning of this sermon with a compound beginning was a suitable point for inducing the message and confirms the coherence of the text, as well as other types of coherence such as citation, substitution, deletion, lexical coherence, concatenation, concatenation. The prominent elements of this text and the value and importance of this sermon on Nahj al-Balaghah in both religious and political contexts are among the reasons for examining this sermon from the point of view of Holliday linguistics.
